Clickbank - Listening to Affiliate Concerns…!

Posted by shermanchoo 24 September, 2008 (0) Comment

Clickbank now issues weekly checks. (Never seen a Clickbank check? Visit here)

It used to be bi monthly, meaning every 2 weeks you would receive a check. Issue with this is that after receiving your check (takes a week), you'll probably have to wait another week or so for the check to clear. So that's around 4 weeks of waiting time before the money shows up in your bank account.

Clickbank now has shortened this waiting period to 1 week, so you can start cashing in your affiliate checks faster. Nice when an affiliate network listens to what their users have to say!

How to Make Money Online - Lifestyle Or Professional Blogger

Posted by shermanchoo 19 September, 2008 (5) Comment

A blog is a powerful tool simply because its contents are quickly indexed by the major search engines.
There're 2 main type of bloggers, lets have a look at how these blogs are monetised!

1) Lifestyle Blogging

Are you hip, fun, outgoing, entertaining, cool? Then a lifestyle blog may just be for you! The idea of a Lifestyle blog is to come across as friendly, FUNNY and upbeat.

Lifestyle blogging gives you a cool "celebrity" status, especially if your content is interesting, has nice photos, quirky, humorous.

If your viewership is high enough, advertising space or product/venue reviews can be used to monetise your blog. Perhaps the best way is to blog a post where you try a certain product, or visit a nightclub as part of your lifestyle then write your experience about it (and be paid to do so by the company). Just as they advertise products in movies, an Aston Martin or BMW in James Bond, if you're a lifestyle blogger you can do the same, where you creatively showcase the product by weaving it in as part of what you did today.

Lifestyle blog examples you can check out are:
- Xia Xue http://xiaxue.blogspot.com
- Angela Leow Gray http://angela.blursotong.com
- Dawn Yang http://www.dawnyang.com

So if you're young, write well and good with the digital camera, you might like to create a lifestyle blog. An Alfresco Dining Restaurant or NightLife Club may just approach you to visit their venue and pay you $5K to $10K just to have fun at their event and blog about it.

2) Professional Niche Blogging

A professional blog gives specific tips and ideas to a particular niche that solve a certain problem. The dynamics of a professional blog is different from a lifestyle blog and so is the monetisation.

A professional blogger writes from the reader's point of view and perspective. In other words, he does not write about himself. He writes about how he can offer value and benefit to another person, and often to solve a certain problem.

For example, say you're a Golf Coach, then you would want to share ideas about the golf swing, create videos on YouTube on "how to stop slices", "how to hit the driver" well. That is the "marketing" aspect. There is always an end objective in mind, where you will offer a golf coaching program or video or cd, a product that monetizes your marketing.

Preferably there is some sort of online payment where they can conveniently pay for your product.

3) Professional Blogger Or LifeStyle Blogger?

Its much easier to make money blogging professionally because you don't need a very large audience or ton of traffic to earn a huge income from this blog. People that visit these blogs are ready to spend money to gain from a product or program. I've seen certain niche markets where customers pay up to $50,000 for a service that solves a certain need or problem.

Meaning that when someone has something in their life that needs fixing, they will pay alot of money to do so, and that is why a professional blogger doesn't need a big, general audience when all they need is a small, targeted audience with a big problem.

A lifestyle blogger on the other hand entertains a wide audience and folks that visit these blogs usually aren't in the mindset to buy something. They're mostly there to be entertained!

Think of it as a huge audience going for a movie compared to a small niche audience with arthritis. The specialist solving the arthritis ailment for a small group of patients can expect to do very well (income wise) even though his customer base is much smaller.

As a lifestyle blogger, most of the income will come from sponsors and advertisers pertaining to your particular lifestyle. The more traffic and eyeballs you can get to your site, the more money you stand to make. The blog needs to be creative, updated, to keep people coming back. And that's more of a labour of passion. Most lifestyle blogs start of more as a hobby rather then a 6 figure marketing/advertising/product endorsement platform.

I would have to say from a monetisation angle that its easier to blog professionally because you can quickly & easily connect with a unique audience and be well rewarded (financially) for helping solve their problems.

But that's just me, feel free to experiment with blogging and decide which works best for you!

Web 2.0 Marketing

Posted by shermanchoo 12 September, 2008 (0) Comment

Web 2.0 marketing is a style of sharing and marketing that allows you to leverage on social networks to let others know of your services. For example, if a new hip night club is having a special promotion, simply by leveraging of word of mouth advertising and social networks, you can get a huge amount of traffic, referrals and customers!

Here's how you can leverage of web 2.0 marketing

1. Friendster updates

When an individual blogs or updates their details, all his or her contacts are updated. This is free traffic and advertising for your business, website, restaurant, shop etc. Likewise, this can work against you, if the service wasn't good or up to par.

2. Paid advertising in social networks.

Paid advertsing such as adbrite allows CPM which stands for cost per impressions. This is called paying per 1000 impressions. After your ad has displayed a 1000 times, you will be charged $5, depending on how much you set the price. It could be $5 or $10. The more you pay per CPM, the more money you will make.

Both Friendster as well as Facebook have these services. Facebook has their own inhouse advertising.

3. Twitter, are you twitting?

To be honest, I felt twitter was kinda silly. Still, its a type of SMS or Short Message Service. Anything that you're doing can be automatically updated into twitter which lets your contacts know what you're up to. Google likes original content, Ive found that sites that are connected to twitter have their content indexed very quickly, in less then an hour.

Cool yeah?

To your success!

Article Marketing…Some thing to look out for!

Posted by shermanchoo 9 September, 2008 (0) Comment

If you've ever thought of doing Article Marketing to drive traffic to your sites. Do be aware that for some article sites, especially the high traffic ones, you can only have a MAXIMUM of 1 AUTHOR account. Yes, you could get away with multiple author accounts.

However, if you ever get discovered, and the article directory manager is not helpful, they can delete your entire account and you lose your article content built over the years and back links over night.

At the end of the day, its always better to

  • First build content on your site, before
  • Rewriting and posting these articles to article directories.

Don't leave your fate to others.
Hope this quick article tip benefits you! To your internet riches!

Marketers Choice: FireFox, IE Or Google Chrome?

Posted by shermanchoo 2 September, 2008 (2) Comment

Google has just come up with a new browser dubbed the Google Chrome. Download it from

http://www.google.com/chrome

Its nice, certainly could tempt anyone to switch from Fire Fox to Chrome, only thing holding me back is the roboform tool (Internet Marketing essential, IMO) on my firefox. If roboform starts to support Chrome…who knows :)

Not a roboform user? Check out Chrome, you just might be lured to the power of the Google side.

Enjoy!

"I Don't Know What To Say Really…" - Any Given Sunday

Posted by shermanchoo 1 September, 2008 (0) Comment

"I Don't Know What To Say Really…" Excerpt From Any Given Sunday. Enjoy :)

My thoughts: You find out how important money is when life slaps you in the face. Ever had to decline when friends ask you out because you know the places they frequent are too expensive to afford at your current salary?

Having money and work, gives one dignity. That's the reality of life, and anyone that says different is probably lucky enough to be born with a diamond spoon in their mouth.

For the rest of us that can count only on ourselves, we must develop an inner drive. Because without that "I WANT TO DO THIS, I WANT TO BE RICH, I MUST MAKE IT" psyche, you'll just float in life until one day 5 years has gone, 40 is just round the corner, we're still at square 1, and its too late.

All the best… visit this post if you can (Valid till 7th September)

Sherman

By the way, Happy 32nd birthday to me :)
