PPC Classroom 2.0: Breadth On Keywords, The Magic Pill?

Posted by shermanchoo 17 November, 2008 (0) Comment

This was with regards to PPC Classroom mentioning going “breadth on keywords.”

Hi Amit and Anik, KeyCompete offers many keywords.

The thing is, even if we bought all these keywords, we need to optimize a PPC campaign such that the bids are below $0.15 for ALL the keywords.

Otherwise, these keyword can't be effectively used, without building 300 over different landing pages for 300 keyword.

I've seen some token PPC software that dynamically insert keywords into the landing pages. These methods don't work.

The bids are still around 0.30 to $1.50.

What's your view to solve this?

Reason I mention this is only if this Adwords Quality score problem can be solved will purchasing 1000 keywords from KeyCompete be useful.

———————————-

Hi Sherman,

From my experience you don't need a separated landing page for each keyword to get a good quality score, and google knows about dynamics keyword insertion on the landing page, they will NOT reward you for that (as you've already discovered).

Break your keywords into 5-10 major themes (I talk about this in Module 4) and make a landing page for each theme.

This method has worked for me consistently, with 75-80% of my keywords getting a good quality score.

Keywords also have conversion rates that can vary dramatically, so it may make sense to have certain keywords below 0.15, but other keywords you may want to bid up to 0.25 or higher.  Setting up Google conversion tracking will help you determine this.

Hope this helps! :)
Sincerely,
Amit

———————————

I’ll fill in the gaps. My personal Adwords practice is to automate the landing page creation process with token insertion. That means, I create 10000 landing page with keywords inserted in on the fly. When the Google bot visits the site, the site already has content based on the keyword.

If im going for sponsored search, this isn’t the best method, but it can work for $0.01 clicks from the content network, depending on the niche and competition. So testing is required. Its a carpet bombing style of Adwords approach that has built me list of 1000s for $0.01 per click.

Coming back, because I knew this method of going breadth wasn’t the shortcut to PPC riches, thus I asked Amit and Renee to explain their views.

Renee from Speed PPC and Amit from PPC Classroom 2.0 concur that we need themed landing pages.

So what are themed landing pages?

Themed landing pages relate to the keywords in some way. The content on this page does not need to be exactly what the keyword is, but it does need to relate to the keyword in some way. I wanted to avoid this method, because it takes extra work, and you may spend all the time to create a themed site and still get a crappy Adwords Quality score, because of:

  • The poor layout of the landing page on the top level domain
  • Too many affiliate links, too little useful content to searches
  • Plus sponsored search can cost more, and does not always return a good ROI compared to content matching.

Example:

Say you’re into promoting Traffic Exchanges with Adwords. Your main domain and the 1st page on your website needs to be associated with the theme Traffic Exchanges, then you can have sub listings linking to Instant Buzz landing page, Traffic Swarm landing page and so on.

Keywords:

  • Instantbuzz
  • Instant buzz
  • Instant buzz reviews
  • Instant buzz feedback
  • Traffic Swarm
  • TrafficSwarm
  • Traffic Swarm reviews
  • TrafficSwarm reviews

So if you’re sending PPC traffic to a top level domain called TrafficExchangeProfit.com and the destination URL is TrafficExchangeProfit.com/instantbuzz, with this destination page containing good content about Instant Buzz, you can expect a good sponsored search score.

Care:

If you’re going to build an opt in list, I recommend not inserting this at the very top, you will get slapped with high bids as well because if an opt in box is what Adwords sees when the Adwords bot 1st hit your page, expect to be slapped. If you check Google TOS, Opt ins, Affiliate bridge pages are low on their list and often do not rank well with Sponsored search.

So in essence:

  1. Build a themed landing page for the top level domain.
  2. Have sub themes for the keywords. The keywords can have many variations, spelling errors, spaces etc, Adwords can recognise the general theme.
  3. You may also want to build a niche site just for the purpose of getting cheap traffic, build your list, before funneling the traffic to a money site via an autoresponder. This means giving searches free useful readable content (satisfies Googles need for content), getting them to opt in, then sending the subscribers to a monetized site that offers a product they need.

If you can get a good quality score for Adwords, you’ll be able to rank and pay the minimum for the sponsored search. Still one needs to take into account that competitors might be bidding $2.00 for a certain keyword so you would not be able to pay $0.08 for that keyword even though you got the minimum price for it.

Hope this post benefits you. More useful and tricks with PPC to share when time avails. Cheers!

The 2% Rule In Pay Per Click Marketing

Posted by shermanchoo 11 November, 2008 (0) Comment

Aim for the 2% conversion rule. At the start, promote a product that has $50 commission. Most are around $20 to $33. But for safety sake, I’d recommend starting PPC for products that offers $50 commission. Offers that convert well and have high commissions are often secret so you’ll need to put in effort to search for one.

The numbers generally look like this.

You need 4000 views to get 80 Sales, which is $4000 revenue.

Cost for advertising is $0.06 per click x 4000 hits = $240, but let's make it $500.
Profit from Sale is $4000 - $500 = $3500

Its normally a smart thing to build a list of subscribers interested in the same topic as you. So what you need to do is, invest $240 to $500 to get 4000 subscribers, to a landing page, with follow up, this will give you 80 sales and $3500 profit for that month from 1 campaign.

Good luck!

PPC Classroom Update - Lessons & Mistakes From 6 Figure Pay Per Click Marketing

Posted by shermanchoo 4 November, 2008 (3) Comment

Back to the discussion about Pay Per Click Marketing and Landing Quality Score.

I corresponded with Renee from Speed PPC. (Renee is from Australia and she has some really nice Speed PPC videos teaching on how to use fully utlise the tool, available to members.)

With Speed PPC, there is a learning curve which allows you to build massive PPC keyword campaigns. When building massive campaigns, there are often cases where 30% of your keywords get slapped with $0.45 to $0.60 to $8.00 to $15.00 bids. Speed PPC is still a great tool, when combined with others tools that help lower your Google Adword Quality Score.

PPC Classroom 2.0 speaks about going breadth when selecting keywords. However, even if you go breadth, it does not mean that this strategy is the key to riches (but it is important), because many of your keywords will not necessarily show up on the sponsored search. Inserting TOKENS don't necessarily help in lowering your score. The old fashioned way of being willing to construct a unique landing page for every single 1000 keywords, will often get you $0.08 sponsored search bids. And that's alot of work.

I mainly use Speed PPC to construct my campaigns and I don't use their templates, which although it helps in tracking TIDs and stuff, simply inserting tokens into these templates does not necessarily give me the $0.08 bids I need. The full proof way is to really build unique landing pages on a themed website with real content.

Think about it, Google wants content, fresh and updated, if everyone were to scrap stuff from all over the net, then there is no longer any need to create material for people. Google wants links from PPC Ads to link to unique content too. Not stuff that can be found from the normal search engine.

The only other tool that KINDA works is LPGEN or Landing Page Generator, which is a whopping $500++. What this does is it creates landing pages on the fly. These landing pages correspond directly with the Google AD Display and Destination URL, which is one of the main components to deciding what bids to give you at the start of a new campaign. I have this tool and all i can say is that it KINDA works. Perhaps the best way is to tinker with the codes a little and change the footprints so that the material it pulls from the web is different from everyone else's out there. Then you'll have a unique landing page with little footprints from everyone else that has the tool.

If you get slapped…

If you get slapped with $15.00 sponsored search bids for every single keyword and nothing seems to work, in which case, you might need to:

  1. Start over from a new domain.
  2. Google like UNIQUE and Themed, so create a landing page that corresponds directly to the keywords you're bidding for. So you'll have a site that's http://domain.com/keyword1.html http://domain.com/keyword2.html and so on…

Can you really make $5,000 a month from PPC Marketing?

Of course, Google wants you to advertise on Adwords, that's a good source of revenue for them, BUT they also need to take care of the interest of their Surfing users. Its a balancing act, where the scales are tipped in favour of the surfers, not the PPCers, and especially not the Affiliate PPCers.

Sherman, any real numbers?

If you like to learn what real PPC numbers look like, I will put together some numbers as I go through my campaigns. Meanwhile, keep working hard! :)

PPC Classroom 2.0 Question…

Posted by shermanchoo 24 October, 2008 (1) Comment

In PPC Classroom, Amit mentioned Key Compete was a good tool for Keyword Research. I posed them a question.

“Hi Amit and Anik, KeyCompete offers many keywords.

Otherwise, these keywords can't be effectively used, without building 300 over different landing pages for 300 keyword.

I've seen some token PPC software that dynamically insert keywords into the landing pages. These methods aren’t the perfect solution. The bids still fall around 0.30 to $0.60 to $1.50, which means we need to pay $0.30 per click, minimum.

What's your view to solve this?

Reason I mention this is only if the Adwords Quality score problem can be solved will purchasing 1000 keywords from Key Compete be useful.”

I have a possible solution will share in later posts, it works but may not be the best…perhaps others have new ideas.

Stay Tuned!

PPC Classroom 2.0 By Amit and Anik

Posted by shermanchoo 14 October, 2008 (0) Comment

PPC Classroom 2.0 by Amit, the $2.4million dollar Physics guy who "worked" at MIT. They are giving a ton of PPC tips away for free and over delivered on these resources so as to assure you that you can absolutely put your faith in them.

Even if you don't take their course, the free tips alone are worth getting.

A New Age

Folks like Amit are ushering in a new age of Internet Marketing coaches.

What sets Amit apart from many who teach the subject of Internet or Affiliate Marketing is that he does what he teaches made apparent because of the depth at which he shares the PPC affiliate tips. They practice, become successful, then teach.

Isn't that the correct way?

You can't know these things about Pay Per Click Marketing, specfically Adwords or Yahoo unless you have gone into it in depth. A ghost writer writing about PPC can only know so much.

There's too much info, here's a 10% snippet of what you can expect.

  • Hidden keyword tracking - This works for Google Search. So you know EXACTLY which keywords convert.
  • PPC optimisation - Some PPC campaigns break even, how do you optimise to explode your campaign. You could be promoting any affiliate product whether it be from Clickbank or GDI or Commission Junction.
  • Search or Content myth - Some "gurus" say content networks are duds. But is it really? Frankly, its ok with me that many believe this and don't use the content network, Amit why did you have to let the secret out… *Sigh*
  • Landing Pages - What type of landing pages work best…
  • Direct linking - Should you direct link? Some say yes, some say no (im in the "no" category). Amit shares when to do direct linking and when to go into landing pages. Plus he plans to provide professional landing pages.

There have been many guru products launched by Internet Marketing experts. The only products that specifically teach you how to OPTIMISE AND TRACK YOUR RESULTS are the ones worth getting because…

TRACKING AND OPTMISATION, then SCALING up your campaigns is what will explode your income.

Who Should Get this Course:

  1. Exisiting Affiliate Marketer - If you're currently promoting any affiliate product from any of the Affiliate networks like Azoogle, CPA Empire, Copeac, CJ, oh and Global Domains International :)
  2. Existing Business Owner - Are you a music teacher, Spanish Tutor, Latin dance teacher, guitar teacher, Fat loss market, consumer based business? Do you want more customers students calling you? Then PPC Classroom 2.0 can get you more students.
  3. New to the scene - Yes, you need this.

My Thoughts And PPC Strategies:

PPC is NOT the golden key to riches although it is one of the main starting points. Its one aspect of the entire Affiliate Marketing chain.

In a war, the Airforce, Navy and Army combine to form a powerful fighting unit. Then there is also the Intelligence data gathering unit. Everything must work in sync for maximum results.

One of the secrets of PPC affiliate marketing is this.

  • I usually test my landing pages with PPC and get the results I want before actually going into SEO and sending more traffic to it.
  • The Story. The content is more important then everything else. PPC allows you to test "The Story"

For example, I will spend $300 on a PPC campaign to get the response that I want. Perhaps get someone to call about a niche offline business and make an appointment. Once I get the response im looking for, I will then outsource the phone answering to someone else. PPC allows me to test this in 7 days, rather then 6 months.

And with the recession 2008, stock market, Dow Jones falling and all, now is a great time for an internet business.

So don't sit on the fence, invest in Pay Per Click Marketing, you won't regret it.

Click here for a video where Amit talks about advanced PPC strategies. If you already practice PPC, you will like this.

See you in the course!

Sherman

PS: There was one of Amit's relative on the call who owns a convenience stall in New Jersey. He spoke with a heavy indian accent and now wants to sell of his offline business to become a full time PPC affiliate.

PPS: I have seen the preview material… and i'll be in the classroom hearing what Amit has to share. Will I see you there?

Global Domains International Is Great!

Posted by shermanchoo 6 October, 2008 (0) Comment

I think of many affiliate programs online, GDI or Global Domains International has a fantastic affiliate program. There is nothing on the internet that is as low risk, as easy, and high reward paying as GDI.

And you can market this business online as well as offline.

Offline folks, offline Network Marketers who aren't very savvy to Internet Marketing love this program because it solves many problems they have.

  • No selling
  • No phone calls
  • No meeting up
  • No asking people to go down
  • No inventory
  • Make money even when not doing anything
  • Low cost

Offline marketers are dazzled by wonders of Internet Marketing, and rightfully so since you can be playing golf and still be earning a huge passive income online.

You don't have to be some super internet guru that knows about tracking, outsourcing, hiring, Adwords savvy to be rich on the internet. In fact with just some modest effort in the right direction, GDI allows you to passively earn an extra USD1000 in 30 days or less.

Why I like Global Domains International…

1. Customer support and Fast Payouts

The great thing about GDI is the customer support and fast payouts. Support is quick and handled in 24 hours. I had an incident when my check was not received, almost immediately the next day, it was cashed into my PayPal account. You never have to chase for your money. It always arrives like clockwork, and if there was an occasional hiccup, it is solved quickly.

2. Low Cost Business Riving That Off a $1,000,000 Offline Real Estate Rental.

The low cost of GDI is superb. In order to earn $5000 every month in real estate, one needs to invest in a $1mil condomenium then rent it out. In GDI, you just need to refer 100 then allow those 100 to refer 100, and you make $10,000 recurring, and that's just the 2nd level. GDI pays all the way to 5 levels. So even if some folks don't do anything, its cool cause there're plenty other folks in your 100 personally referred downline that will. You can't help everyone, Focus on helping those that have proven themselves.

$1,000,000 condomenium => $5,000 income each month

$10 GDI internet business => $5,000 - $10,000 income each month

So if you have $1,000,000 and want to use it to earn $5K rent each month, that's great. Any income that is passive is good. If you have $10 and want to build a stable income of $5K, go with GDI and let as many people as you can know about it.

Marketing Global Domains International

You don't have to sell GDI forever. Some products you sell once, you gotta figure out a way to sell it again. In GDI, you just need to refer 100, then allow those 100 to refer 100. Of course if you're a go getter and want to refer 10000 alone, that's fine, but, its a good idea to coach your team and leave a blueprint of your success so that they can copy it. Share the secrets to GDI and allow them to benefit. And if you have a secret resource that allows you to connect with a cold market, wow, keep that as in house as possible.

1. Free and Slow?

If you read about folks not doing well with GDI, it just means they're not letting people know about GDI. Or they're not reaching out to people around them. Don't fish in saturated areas. A free way is to share GDI with your warm market. But before you share, talk and act successful, be positive always. (If you're someone that has a habit of phrasing sentences in a negative way, then be aware, and change it). If your friends already think lowly of you because you haven't had much success in life, then network and make new friends. Only this time, network and have a mental model of success in your own mind.

Then once you've found success and driving that new car, market GDI to your old friends. Business and friendship is different. Your friends might be there in your time of trouble, but they may not be the best people to be in your business team. Likewise, your teammates might be good business buddies, but they may not be there for you in your times of trouble. Keep things mutually exclusive. Some singers are not successful in their own countries, they find creative means to make their mark overseas as a foreign talent, before coming home to sell to their own countrymen. Be aware of this mental model and do the same.

2. Advertising For Fast Returns

If you can afford paid advertising, go for it. All businesses advertise, you'll want to do the same to grow an GDI business quickly.

3. Go all out to do JV's with other successful Network Marketers or Internet Business Owners

People that are already successful have a huge database of contacts. Go all out to grab these folks, they will greatly benefit you.

Marketing Psychology

When you share offline, think of when you're telling a friend about a movie. You share it freely, just do the same for GDI. Share it without any preconceived notion of how they will react. Give them a GDI name card and move on. Some folks will love the idea, others won't, or forget to take action. Don't worry about it. Just move on.

An offline story

I don't normally share GDI offline, and often forget to talk about it within my circle. But I shared GDI with one offline network marketer who is sorta an Internet Marketing newbie. He shares GDI with his own people offline. And the thing is, he makes an effort to remember to mention it and is genuinely excited about it. He referred 7 in just 3 days or less.

So I decided maybe I should do the same, offline.

Here's how I share it. (This is a real conversation)

Me: By the way, here's my business card.

Them: Wow! Nice Ferrari!

Me: Yeah, haha

Them: What is this?

Me: Its an internet business, you can earn USD2K each week by referring 100 people. if they each refer 100 like you, then you earn $10,000 each month, automatically, recurring.

Them:Great idea, i've heard of this internet stuff before. Just never figured how it works.

Me: There's a video there, go and watch it. The checks will appear at your home.

Them: ok, I will.

That's it. Offline people are just so receptive to making money online. GDI is low cost and lucrative. Plus its website allows you to host any niche business you want. So other then the webhosting, if you want to get into niche marketing, you can use the product to host your niche business.

If You Were in GDI and Not Successful

If you were before in GDI and not successful, here's a few things you can do.

  • Change your marketing angle.
  • Change your communication style.Talk like someone that can help others.
  • Use the tools GDI provides you. Too lazy to create your own name card, buy it from GDI.

People that will probably earn only $1.00 a month with GDI.

1. Cold Callers

Cold calling to sell GDI is just plain unproductive. Some spend 1 hour on GDI using en Masse advertising and earn $1000s in bonus cash and $100s - $1,000s of recurring passive income, others spend 7 hours banging the phone and earn $1.00.

2. Thumb Twiddler

Some folks just sign up and don't market. If you don't market and share you won't make money. Entrepreneurship is all about marketing. De Beers diamonds started the "A Diamond Is Forever" marketing campaign and it boosted sales of diamonds when women decided that men needed to buy a diamond to pledge their love.

3. Poor Communicator

If you don't speak well, here's the good part. The GDI video will sell and explain everything for you.

Since there are many teams in GDI, often the best secrets are kept in house by the respective teams. Discover the best ways to share (share, not sell, there is difference) Global Domains International , then let your leaders know. The leaders like all super affiliates will reveal themselves.

To your success in Global Domains International

~Sherman

PS: If you're not doing well in GDI, probably the worse thing you can do is to go to a forum and mingle with folks that have failed in GDI. Don't brand yourself as someone that has failed. Whatever you write will get indexed by Google and you'll be branded as a failure for a long time unless you change your name. Run as quickly as you can from folks that have no success and network your way into the successful internet business circles that already drive BMWs or live in nice bungalows and condomeniums. They can help you turn Global Domains International into a success!

Clickbank - Listening to Affiliate Concerns…!

Posted by shermanchoo 24 September, 2008 (0) Comment

Clickbank now issues weekly checks. (Never seen a Clickbank check? Visit here)

It used to be bi monthly, meaning every 2 weeks you would receive a check. Issue with this is that after receiving your check (takes a week), you'll probably have to wait another week or so for the check to clear. So that's around 4 weeks of waiting time before the money shows up in your bank account.

Clickbank now has shortened this waiting period to 1 week, so you can start cashing in your affiliate checks faster. Nice when an affiliate network listens to what their users have to say!

How to Make Money Online - Lifestyle Or Professional Blogger

Posted by shermanchoo 19 September, 2008 (5) Comment

A blog is a powerful tool simply because its contents are quickly indexed by the major search engines.
There're 2 main type of bloggers, lets have a look at how these blogs are monetised!

1) Lifestyle Blogging

Are you hip, fun, outgoing, entertaining, cool? Then a lifestyle blog may just be for you! The idea of a Lifestyle blog is to come across as friendly, FUNNY and upbeat.

Lifestyle blogging gives you a cool "celebrity" status, especially if your content is interesting, has nice photos, quirky, humorous.

If your viewership is high enough, advertising space or product/venue reviews can be used to monetise your blog. Perhaps the best way is to blog a post where you try a certain product, or visit a nightclub as part of your lifestyle then write your experience about it (and be paid to do so by the company). Just as they advertise products in movies, an Aston Martin or BMW in James Bond, if you're a lifestyle blogger you can do the same, where you creatively showcase the product by weaving it in as part of what you did today.

Lifestyle blog examples you can check out are:
- Xia Xue http://xiaxue.blogspot.com
- Angela Leow Gray http://angela.blursotong.com
- Dawn Yang http://www.dawnyang.com

So if you're young, write well and good with the digital camera, you might like to create a lifestyle blog. An Alfresco Dining Restaurant or NightLife Club may just approach you to visit their venue and pay you $5K to $10K just to have fun at their event and blog about it.

2) Professional Niche Blogging

A professional blog gives specific tips and ideas to a particular niche that solve a certain problem. The dynamics of a professional blog is different from a lifestyle blog and so is the monetisation.

A professional blogger writes from the reader's point of view and perspective. In other words, he does not write about himself. He writes about how he can offer value and benefit to another person, and often to solve a certain problem.

For example, say you're a Golf Coach, then you would want to share ideas about the golf swing, create videos on YouTube on "how to stop slices", "how to hit the driver" well. That is the "marketing" aspect. There is always an end objective in mind, where you will offer a golf coaching program or video or cd, a product that monetizes your marketing.

Preferably there is some sort of online payment where they can conveniently pay for your product.

3) Professional Blogger Or LifeStyle Blogger?

Its much easier to make money blogging professionally because you don't need a very large audience or ton of traffic to earn a huge income from this blog. People that visit these blogs are ready to spend money to gain from a product or program. I've seen certain niche markets where customers pay up to $50,000 for a service that solves a certain need or problem.

Meaning that when someone has something in their life that needs fixing, they will pay alot of money to do so, and that is why a professional blogger doesn't need a big, general audience when all they need is a small, targeted audience with a big problem.

A lifestyle blogger on the other hand entertains a wide audience and folks that visit these blogs usually aren't in the mindset to buy something. They're mostly there to be entertained!

Think of it as a huge audience going for a movie compared to a small niche audience with arthritis. The specialist solving the arthritis ailment for a small group of patients can expect to do very well (income wise) even though his customer base is much smaller.

As a lifestyle blogger, most of the income will come from sponsors and advertisers pertaining to your particular lifestyle. The more traffic and eyeballs you can get to your site, the more money you stand to make. The blog needs to be creative, updated, to keep people coming back. And that's more of a labour of passion. Most lifestyle blogs start of more as a hobby rather then a 6 figure marketing/advertising/product endorsement platform.

I would have to say from a monetisation angle that its easier to blog professionally because you can quickly & easily connect with a unique audience and be well rewarded (financially) for helping solve their problems.

But that's just me, feel free to experiment with blogging and decide which works best for you!
